Averøy has a mountainous ridge in the centre, with Meekknoken as the highest peak, rising 750 meters above the sea. The neigh-bouring municipalities of Eide and Fræna also have a number of spectacular mountains, some more than 1000 meters high. A mountain trip near the open sea will give you a fabulous panoramic view. At Averøy, Bremsneshola is also worth a visit. Both the Trollheimen and the Sunndal Mountains are only a few hours away by car.
